As Madonna says in Live to Tell:

“I have a tale to tell…”

The Story

In 2025, a filmmaker uncovers forgotten tapes from a 2005 documentary capturing a chaotic, pre-smartphone karaoke scene that became local legend. Those tapes — and the people in them — now form the heart of Karaoke People, a new documentary exploring memory, connection, and the quiet immortality of shared moments that may someday outlive us all.

Directed by McAllister, Karaoke People follows her return to the footage and reconnection with the original performers who once lit up the Brodioke stage at The Brick. Twenty years later, those same voices — now shaped by age, wisdom, survival, and loss — reflect on who they were, who they’ve become, and how fleeting moments can leave permanent marks.

Karaoke People isn’t just about singing — it’s about remembering who we were, reveling in the messy, imperfect moments that made us, and realizing there’s still time for chaos, joy, and connection.”

“This reunion brings past and present crashing together on the same stage, reminding us that our shared laughter, mistakes, and memories make us human — and we’re all in this adventure together.”
