Meet Erin.

Erin McAllister’s work is influenced by the unpredictability of relationships between people, their environments, human sexuality, and conflict. Organic, static, or everlasting, it is all by chance. Mostly working in fiber, she uses bold colors in cotton, silk, wool, used clothing, textured leathers, and blazing mylars to represent individuals grouped into various scenarios. Her use of colors and patterns overlap, like shared experiences and memories. The materials are cut down to the smallest detail, reinventing their original purpose. Within the arrangements, she studies the connectivity between color, space, and negative space. The fabrics are often bonded with black and colored threads for function, line, rhythm, and tension. This results in a bird’s eye view of visual theater where shapes dance, compete and tell their story for the viewer to decipher.

Erin lives and works in Denver Colorado and has a BFA in Fiber Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, 2002-2006.
